Procedure
for Cleaning Window
Air
Conditioner While In Place
- Turn off power to unit.
- Connect AIR CON cleaning tool to a garden hose.
- Be sure the valve on the AIR CON cleaning tool is closed.
- Turn on the supply water.
- Familiarize yourself with the AIR CON cleaning tool. Slowly
open the valve. Be careful. It has a strong kick-back effect.
- Starting at the top of the condenser, work the AIR CON cleaning tool back
and forth, dropping down an inch at a time until water flows freely through
the condenser.
- Continue backflushing for a few minutes to remove dirt from the bottom of
the unit.
- Do not restore power for at least 24 hours after servicing, or possible
electrical short circuits could be caused by water residue in the unit.

Units
- Cut the power to the unit by removing the fuses or turning off the circuit
breakers.
- Take the top off the cabinet of the condensing unit.
- Use a plastic sheet or baggie to prevent water from getting into the
condenser fan motor or any other piece of electrical wiring or equipment.
- Connect AIR CON cleaning tool to a garden hose.
- Make sure the valve on the AIR CON cleaning tool is closed.
- Turn on the supply water.
- Slowly open the valve to get the feel of the cleaning
tool. Be careful. It has a strong kick-back effect.
- Starting at the top of the condenser, work the AIR CON cleaning tool back
and forth, dropping down an inch at a time until water flows freely and the
entire condenser has been flushed clean.
- Remove any covering you may have installed to protect the fan or
electrical wiring.
- Replace the cover.
- Restore power to the unit.

Removing Unit from Case
- Turn off power to unit.
- Remove the unit from its case and take to an appropriate place for
cleaning.
- Cover the condenser fan motor openings and protect any exposed electrical
wiring or equipment with a plastic sheet or baggie.
- Connect AIR CON cleaning tool to a garden hose.
- Be sure the valve on the AIR CON cleaning tool is closed.
- Turn on the supply water.
- Familiarize yourself with the AIR CON cleaning tool. Slowly
open the valve. Be careful. It has a strong kick-back effect.
- Clean the condenser by backflushing until water flows through it freely.
- Remove any plastic you installed to protect unit.
- Replace unit in case.
- Restore power.
